This great opportunity is one you do not want to miss. As our Greenkeeping Supervisor, you will keep our 18 hole golf course in peak condition by leading day to day turf care— mowing the entire golf course, maintaining the bunkers, assisting our Irrigation Specialist, applying pesticides safely, planting in the nursery and turfing areas on the golf course, repairing worn areas, and keeping the golf course and golf cart path clean. 

You’ll work closely with the Golf Superintendent to plan and execute these activities while motivating and coordinating the entire greenkeeping team. If you thrive outdoors and love turning agronomic plans into immaculate playing conditions, we’d love to meet you!

The position

• Supervise and guide the greenkeeping team on a daily basis.

• Assist the Golf Course Superintendent with planning and execution of all maintenance activities.

• Ensure high-quality playing conditions through turf care, irrigation, mowing, and bunker maintenance.

• Implement and monitor schedules for fertilizing, aerating, spraying, and other treatments.

• Monitor machinery use, ensure correct maintenance, and report mechanical issues.

• Keep accurate records of chemical and fertilizer applications.

• Train and develop new greenkeeping staff.

• Monitor inventory and coordinate with suppliers.

Your profile

• Completed MBO education or equivalent.

• Proven experience in golf course or sports turf maintenance.

• You’re a strong leader and a great communicator.

• Hands-on experience with turf machinery and irrigation systems.

•  In possession of spraying and chainsaw certification (PA1, PA2, PA6) is a plus.

• Fluent in Dutch and English. Spanish and Papiamentu are a plus.

• You enjoy working outside and are motivated to create exceptional playing conditions.

A little history about us

Understandably, many think that the name Blue Bay was chosen because of the striking blue water in the bay. The truth is that this beautiful part of Curaçao was already named ‘Blaauwbaai’ (Blue Bay in Dutch), after Anno Blaauw, the owner at the time. He grew limes, oranges and – to make the name even more appropriate – the blue pigment indigo.

Over the years, the plantation has had its share of different owners. In 1800, it was occupied and plundered by French pirates. In the 20th century, it became the property of the Jacobs family, who used it as a farm. During the Second World War, American soldiers manned cannons at Blue Bay to shoot at German submarines.

The master plan of Blue Bay Resort dates back to 1990, when a local development group purchased the plantation from the Jacobs family and built the first infrastructure. In 1997, developer Steve Raspoort saw the area’s enormous potential. Step by step, he established a thriving resort and golf course. Steve Raspoort passed away in 2007, but his family continued realizing his dream to create a welcoming place where life is enjoyed to the fullest. Blue Bay has since grown to become a household name on Curaçao and in the Caribbean.
